We will be having a craft day to finish the crafts for state session on August 20th from 12pm-4pm.
2009 Junior Grange Craft Projects
NOTE:
All projects will be judged in groups as follows: Ages 5-8, 9-11, 12-14. May be entered by Junior Grange members of children/grandchildren of Grange members. Each Junior Grange is allowed to send a total of 15 craft projects to State Grange for state-level judging. You may send one for each age group for all 5 projects. All crafts need to be labled with Name, address, Junior Grange, County.
Peanut Butter Balls
3/4 cup peanut butter, 1/4 cup skim milk, 1/4 cup rasins, 4 graham crackers (2 inch square) Broken into pieces. 1 teaspoon vanilla, dash of cinnamon. Cream peanut butter with 2 tablespoons milk until well blended. Add remaining ingredients, Mix well. Drop on aluminum foil or wax paper in balls about 1 inch in diamater. Chill. Yeild: 8 balls (4 servings)
Place 8 on a disposable plate and cover. Complete recipe must be included for judging.
JUDGING: Flavor - 45% Appearance - 25% Texture - 30%
Desing a J/G Medallion
On a 8 x 11 sheet of plain white paper, draw a circle no smaller than 6" and no larger than 7". Design a medallion. Repeat on another piece of paper for the back of the medallion. Design both a front and back, J/G sneakers MUST be predominate on one side.
JUDGING:Creativity- 40% Workmanship - 30% Neatness for age - 25%
Recycled Plastic Lid Craft
May use one or more plasstic lids from such items as spray can, margarine tub, 2-liter bottle, jar, etc. Mary decorate with any medium (paint, yarn, butytons, fabric, etc.) Not to exceed 12"x12"x12". If hanging type, must have hanger, magnet, etc. for display. NO KITS.
JUDGING: Originality - 25% Workmanship - 25% Appearance - 25% Neatness 25%
Cinnamon Scents
Ingredients: 6 Tablespoons applesauce; 10 tablespoons ground cinnamon.
Place cinnamon in a bowl, add the applesauce and work/mix until it has a smooth claylike consistency. "Flour" a rolling pin and pastry cloth generously with cinnamon and roll out dough to about 1/8" thick. Using cookie cutters or free form, cut out various shapes from the dough. With a toothpick or nut pick, may mark details on cut out shapes (optional). May also make a hole in each with a straw, etc. to thread string or ribbon for hanging. Place shapes on a cookie sheet. Heat oven 120 degrees. Bake about 1-1/2 hours, turn off heat and leave overnight to harden. Final size not to exceed 12"x12"x12". May docorate shapes in any manner (optional). Note: NOT EDIBLE

Decorated Wall Hanging
Make a wall hanging out of any material you wish to use, fabric, canvas, wood, cardboard, foam, etc. Use any theme. Docorate with any medium. Use your imagination. Completed size not to exceed 18"x18"x18" including the hanger. Must be able to hang on a wall.
JUDGING: Creativity - 30% Workmanship - 40% Appearance 30%
Special "Other" Craft Project
Two catagories - Individual (ages 10-14) Group (all ages but must have one JG member age 10-14) May enter as an individual and/or group. Enter items such as scrapbooks, banners, posters, Agri-Basic report, Legislative craft, digital photography, needle-point, etc. ANYTHING that has been worked on in the past year, and compacted/able to fit in a 12"x12"x12" space for ease of transport. All entries to be judged at State Grange Session. Judging on Dahish system, each entry receiving a ribbon and certificate.
NEW YORK STATE GRANGE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
This contest is open to both Adult and Junior members, and is divided into three divisions:
Division I , Subordinate (adult) members
Division II , Junior members Ages 5-9
Division III , Junior members Ages 10-14.
NOTE: Junior's age as of Jan. 1, 2009 determines division.
Photos may be entered in the following catagories in all divisions:
1. Our Beautiful Community
2. Just for Fun
3. Grange Involvements
The photograph must have been taken by the person submitting the entry. The photograph must have been taken sometime during 2008 or 2009. A photograph can only be entered once. Photographs should be no smaller than 5" x 7" and no larger than 8" x 10". The photograph does not have to be framed. Participants may have one entry per category. Traditional printed photographs or digital photographs can be entered. On the back of the photograph list the division, category, name, address, and Grange of the person submitting the entry.

Each entry must the the original work of the member submitting it. All entries must be completed during 2008 or 2009. A work of art can only be entered once. Entries must not be larger than 24" x 36". There is no minimum size requirement. Participants may have one entry per catagory. Do not send glass with entries.
